The other day, we shared Part 1 of Caroline and Brock’s Whimsical Winter Wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge, today we’re sharing Part 2 of their fun wedding photographed by the lovely and talented Julie Williams Photography. Their wedding was also featuring on one of the top wedding blogs in North America, Wedding Chicks, if you get a chance check it out as their are lots more photos and bride Caroline, describes their wedding day in more detail.
Caroline and Brock at the fabulous Emerald Lake Lodge. I love how many of our couples have described it as the “most romantic place on earth”! With stunning mountain views, cozy cabins and roaring fires, I definitely agree!
It was very important to Caroline and Brock, that their wedding be true reflection of their personalities. Caroline is super crafty and wanted to DIY lots of the decor herself. As you will see she did a fabulous job and it was really fun working with her to create a cohesive look throughout the ceremony and reception. It was also really important to the couple that their guests be well taken care of and entertained throughout. For me, this is one of my favorite types of weddings to design because every detail is so personal and meaningful.
After the ceremony, Caroline and Brock and their wedding party went off for photographs, while their guests had a chance to cozy up in their room or explore Emerald Lake. During the cocktail hour, board games were set out for their guests to enjoy while some guests played at the snooker table. It was a fun alternative to traditional cocktail hours.
Caroline and Brock join in on the fun at the Yoho Lounge.
For their reception decor, Caroline and Brock used a neutral color palette of warm browns, beige, creams and greys and wanted to interject a little fun and whimsy too!
The first things guests saw when they entered the reception was this wreath. Caroline made the wreath by covering balls of styrofoam with yarn. We embellished the wreath with walnut wood snowflakes.
Cilantro on the Lake was the scene for the reception.
The Sweetheart Table…
Caroline made the adorable pom pom swags for the back of the sweetheart chairs.
We used wool scarves for table runners and the adorable Mr. and Mrs. signs were used to mark the bride and groom’s place settings.
The beautiful flowers by Katrina Russell of Cattleya Chic.
Caroline and Brock are avid skiiers and it was only natural to include their love of skiing into their winter wedding. Caroline and Brock chose some of their favorite ski resorts for table markers. We engraved them out of maple wood and made frames to match their decor. I love all the little descriptions to go with each marker.
It was warm and cozy inside…
Even the infamous Emerald Lake moose was decked out in a warm scarf.
We engraved wood menus and place cards for each place setting.
The beautiful cake and cake topper was made by talented Barbara Laberge (former owner at Cake Creations). I love Barb’s “snow people”!
I loved that the couple chose their favorite cookies (made by the bride) to give as wedding favors. The supplied little bags for their guests to take home goodies as well.
Cake cutting…
On every guest table was a little box containing white play dough (we called snow dough) and guests were asked to make a creation and present it to the bride and groom if they wanted to kiss. The guests had a blast creatingand there definitely was some interesting creations!
Ski-themed wedding decor…
The couple collected vintage ski posters and these were display around the room.
For their wedding “guest-book” we refinished a pair of vintage skis for their guests to sign.
Ski-themed seating chart…
Fun washroom signs we made as a cute little surprise for guests…
DJ Patrick Smiley, kept the group grooving all night long (seriously did not see a break in the dance floor all night!). Okay, I couldn’t resist this photo of the groom!
Thank you Caroline and Brock for allowing us to be part of your special day. We are truly honored! Wishing you all the best in your married life together!
