We are delighted to share Amanda and Simon’s whimsical Lake Louise winter wedding that was featured on Poppytalk blog. What an honour!!
Amanda and Simon are the most wonderful couple! We had been talking from afar for almost a year before finally meeting. They came all the way from Australia in plus 40 degree weather (their hot season) to the Canadian Rocky Mountains for their winter wedding and to experience a true Canadian Christmas.
The weather had been relatively warm in the Rockies for December, but the temperatures dropped to minus 20 degrees celsius upon their arrival. It was wonderful to experience their excitement in seeing the mountains for the first time!!
Amanda had her dress custom made for her and modelled after a couture wedding dress from Dior. The vintage flowers were from her mother’s very own wedding dress.
Amanda’s beautiful bouquet was perfect for a wedding in cold temperatures!
On Amanda’s bouquet hung a small tag ” I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart”. She also had two pocket watches one set to Australia time and the other Canadian time.
I love that the groom Simon had Star Wars themed Storm-troopers (with tuxes) for his cufflinks!
The Ceremony was set in the Lefroy Room at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. We surprised the bride and groom with wood monogram signs for the couple, that we framed in vintage frames with burlap backing and we placed them on either side of the entrance to the Lefroy room.
Set on each chair was a linen bag with tissues for each guest and an itinerary for the day ahead.
The lovely flower basket and florals were from Willow Haven in Canmore.
The Groom Simon and his parents.
Here comes the bride!
I love this shot of the couple!!
After the ceremony, the couple had a wonderful stand up lunch reception and dessert bar in the adjacent room. We hand painted and distressed mason jars in various color to match Amanda and Simon’s vintage theme.
After lunch the bride and groom headed out to enjoy Lake Louise. After bundling up with hand-warmers and some warm layers, the guests enjoyed a picturesque ride in a horse-drawn sleigh!
Love was in the air!
Amanda and Simon are now ‘honorary’ Canadians after being such troopers out it the cold weather (and with such positive attitudes)!! They are truly one of the nicest couples we have ever been blessed to work with!!
Stop by again tomorrow as we will be sharing Part 2 of Amanda and Simon’s Whimsical Lake Louise wedding including the fun vintage wedding reception.
Happy Planning!
