A while back I had a meeting with my friend Jesse Hisco from HIS.CO Photography to talk about an upcoming wedding we would both be working together on. Our talk quickly turned to a Western wedding inspired shoot. Jesse told me his idea to feature a modern, organic ranch wedding mixed with high fashion elements. Jesse has had a long love of horses and western ranch culture. Of course, being a horse owner myself, I was in!
Jesse asked if I would be able to come up with the decor accents for the shoot; “something with horses” and “with a modern feel”. I was thrilled to be asked to play a role in a shoot Jesse was so passionate about. A horse lover myself, I was also really excited to visit the Rafter Six Ranch in Kananskis country (just west of Calgary), where the rustic, mountain shoot was to take place.
Jesse did an amazing job working with some very talented vendors to pull together the horse-themed wedding, “Appaloosa” shoot. The shoot was featured on a top wedding blog, The Wedding Chicks.
We collaborated with the talented Leo of Willow Haven Flower Shop to pull together an amazing tablescape with organic, earthy elements of succulents and thistles. And the bouquet? Simply put, stunning! We were happy to design the western inspired wood pieces (table numbers, menus, bride and groom signs) from spruce, barnwood and horseshoes!
