This is one of our favorite Lake Louise Fall weddings. I am really excited to share this wedding because it was such a fun wedding with an amazing couple and the photography by Funky Town Photography (Christina Craft and Erica Jensen as second shooter) was stunning!
I had such a great time helping Rachel and Mike plan their Fall wedding at Canadian Rocky Mountain Resort’s Deer Lodge in Lake Louise, Alberta. I remember several design meetings over coffee that were always a great time, mainly because Rachel and Mike are easy going people who really wanted to have fun with their wedding. From the start, they had the idea that they wanted to show their personality and have a little fun with the fact that they both had the same last name; Wong, and “Wong Squared” as a wedding motif was born. We definitely had fun playing with this motif throughout their wedding!
I also loved the fact that they wanted to play up Mike’s Scottish heritage. We wanted to weave some of their Scottish plaid in with their orange and brown colour palette and this set the tone for their rustic Lake Louise wedding. Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts Deer Lodge was a perfect location for their wedding!
This is how there story began! Actually it began apparently at the Keg in Calgary but that is another story…this is the story of their wedding day. 🙂
Rachel and Mike did a first look reveal before their actual wedding ceremony. I am starting to love first look ceremonies! I love that it is an intimate moment for just the couple to share some time together before the ceremony. It is also a great way to get the nerves worked out too when you can see each other beforehand. It really is a shared experience between the couple!
Here comes the bride!
Once the first look is finished, the couple can relax before the ceremony and just have some fun! Rachel and Mike went out around the Lake Louise area with their incredibly talented photographers for some portraits, and were joined by their wedding party.
I love this shot of Rachel and Mike in front of the sparkling blue waters of Lake Louise!
We made some fun photo props for the wedding party to take out on their photo shoot. I love personalized props for photos because they are always so much fun!
Time to get married! I don’t think anyone could have asked for a more beautiful fall day! In fact, it was really more like summer!
Orange wedding wands and wood engraved wedding programs were ready to go. I love the little booklets Rachel and Mike decided on for the ceremony program and what was even better was the personalized stories inside of how the couple met and about their wedding party.
One of my favorite “ceremonies” to do within a wedding ceremony is the “wine box / love letters” ceremony. In this case we made a custom wood box, but the couple chose to put scotch in the box instead of wine along with their love notes to each other. During the ceremony, it was explained to the guests that the couple would hopefully never have to open the box because it was meant to be opened at a time of stress in the marriage… they’d drink the scotch and read the letters to each other and remember why they fell in love with each other in the first place!
Look out Rachel has the hammer!
They were so cute! The guests really enjoyed the fun as well.
The Wongs are officially “Wong Squared”!
Yay! Congratulations Rachel and Mike!!
Stay tuned for more of Rachel and Mike’s wedding reception that took place at Deer Lodge in Lake Louise. This couple knows how to have fun, so don’t miss it! Here is Part 2 of Rachel and Mike’s Lake Louise Wedding!
