Tip #26 – The Rocky Mountains are the perfect destination for a bachelor party.
If you’re an adventurous and outdoorsy groom planning a wedding in the mountains, why not have your bachelor party in the mountains as well? In our last post, we talked about the rocky mountains as being the perfect adventure playground and a wonderful setting for a wedding. The same holds true for the ‘bachelor party’! A bachelor party isn’t just another guy’s night out, it’s a ritual, time-honored, male-bonding event! Sharing an action-packed, adventure with your closest friends in the rocky mountains, will undoubtedly provide unforgettable memories to last a lifetime.
A bachelor party should be all about what the groom wants. If your best man is planning your get together, let him know you’re thinking about alternatives to the traditional club scene. There are many things to do in the mountains; let your interests and passions be a guide for your activities! You may even want to step out of your comfort zone and try an exhilarating activity you’ve never done before; think heli-skiing, zip lining or ice-climbing perhaps?
The key to an adventurous bachelor party is to share a fun, interactive experience in the outdoors. In the summer, white-water rafting and mountain biking, are a good combination. In winter, skiing and snowboarding are always popular; you don’t have to stop there either. Why not have the full mountain experience and stay in a rustic lodge setting? The Post Hotel in Lake Louise provides not only great accommodations and food, but their wine cellar (with a massive selection of wines) and cigar lounge are a popular place for many after a day of skiing. If beer is more your taste, experience the local flavor in one of the many mountain pubs. The Grizzly Paw in Canmore is a great restaurant and pub with its own a micro-brewery!
Whatever activities you choose, keep in mind the fitness and skill level of the group. Also, consider the cost of the activities. Typically, the groom doesn’t pay for his own activity and the cost is shared amongst the guys. There are lots of activities in the mountains that don’t require lots of cash either and renting equipment can keep the activities affordable for all.
Here are some other suggestions for a weekend excursion with the boys:
- camping
- hiking
- fly-fishing
- horseback riding
- golf
- climbing
- dogsledding
- canoeing
- kayaking
